haha, actually I am slowly reducing the amount of accounts I have. I realized that I was putting too much energy into accounts that weren't being successful. So for now, its basically HERE, bluesky and patreon. I deleted my twitter account, and technically I am on DA, but I am sunsetting that platform because I strongly disagree with their business practices.

You & a whole lot of other people, including me. I was on DA through its best period: most of the 2000's. Had a few accounts there, all of which are still up because I kept losing the passcodes to them & to e-mail accounts. (I didn't appreciate the value of organization like I do now) In '08 I moved from Las Vegas* to central TX, commenced the next phase of my life & forgot about DA. After deciding to put my art online again, I checked it out...saw how DA had degenerated (& is still sliding downhill). Clearly it wouldn't do, so I looked for alternatives in late 2022.

...and that, my dear, is how we met. *bow*

Also - does that mean I should go to Patreon & drop Ko-fi entirely? I don't want to run unnecessary accounts, either.

RE: DA, Agree on all fronts. My story is similar. I've been with them so long, decades, and yet it feels like they have completely missed the mark about what made that site worth while in the first place. It was an art community. Now, its a shittier version of a gallery site with very limited/dated interaction opportunities. So sad how to see how much they have fallen.

RE: Patreon v Ko-fi. I still have a ko-fi account. Ko-fi is what I use for commissions and general donations, while Patreon is purely for subscriptions. I won't presume to tell you what to do, but I am still using both of them for now until I find a better option or Patreon gets the functionality of having single donations and purchasable items for commissions.

The one thing the nose-ringed narrator left out was the ouster of Jark (Scott Jarkoff). He was the main force behind DA's direction as an online art community for a few years...until Spyed (Angelo Sotira) & the other guy threw him out of the leadership. It was some kind of power struggle & Jarkoff lost. That happened sometime in '05, if memory serves...don't quote me on that. Quite a few people blamed Sotira for Jarkoff's getting booted, which makes sense since Sotira was the guy driving the plot (the 3rd guy was strictly beta). Those bastards even altered webpages on DA about Jarkoff & deceptively edited the Wiki article on DA to erase Jarkoff from DA's history. After I saw it all play out, I still hung out there for a bit & submitted a few pieces...but my participation definitely went down overall. By the time I relocated to TX in 2008, I had said "fuck that noise" & moved on.

The latest item I heard about DA was earlier this year: there are short porn clips on there now--real stuff, not 3D/animated toons--& sometimes one gets featured as a "Daily Deviation". *smh*

Hey!

Yeah its been a rough week for me. Late last week I was made aware that I am being evicted and I was given a few days to gather my things, which was not nearly enough time. I scrambled to get everything in storage with the help of my community friends, and with the help of government assistance I was placed in a family shelter. It's not ideal, but I am safe and warm. Thanks so much for reaching out. <3

I am starting to post things on bsky so that will likely be where my latest updates will be.

@Zilu7 Guess I have to open a Bluesky account, then. I was used to seeing you & your art here...oh well. Bsky would be good for my exposure too, though I'm not focused on it these days.
